Exploring the miles of isles of design vendors at the Spring NY Now Gift Show is not a job for the faint hearted, but with the long holiday weekend on our side – and armed with our walking shoes, coffee and a camera, we tackled the task so we could share with you all our Spring design predictions for 2015! Let’s take a peak…
1) OUTDOORS, INSIDE:
As we move into Spring, fresh florals and indoor plants are always more prevalent in interior decor. However, this year expect to see your favorite flower display with a twist! With the growing trend towards bringing more of the outdoors-inside, we predict natural plant-life will be integrated into interior decor through the use of ceramic planter boxes, hanging wall vases, and even retro indoor garden gnomes!
2) ORGANIC MODERN:
We couldn’t coin a more appropriate term for this trend, than Organic Modern. Think minimalism, clean lines and neutrals combined with organic, natural and rustic materials. Some major lust-worthy pieces of this style at the show included industrial inspired lighting, sheep skin fur pillows, tan leather sectionals and coffee tables made from natural minerals and reclaimed wood.
3) 50 SHADES OF GREY, BEIGE & BLUE:
While we love a fabulous pop-of-color, it looks like neutrals are the new black! Ranging in multiple shades of grey, beige and light-blue, expect to see more neutral floor coverings, soft furnishings and accessories this coming season.
4) COLORFUL CHINOISERIE:
We have always loved chinoiserie – its classic, understated yet, still enchanting. Needless to say, we are so excited chinoiserie is back this Spring! While the classic white, blue and red combination will always be a strong contender, new and interesting fun color combinations are on the Spring scene!
4) ANIMAL KINGDOM:
Spring time is as much about fauna as it is about flora, so it’s no surprise that animals were a big hit at this seasons show. However, don’t expect to see the usual Spring suspects – we were delighted to see representation from all corners of the animal kingdom. From Polar bears and poodles to elephants and emus, animals of all kinds were featured heavily in prints, wall art and the children’s soft toys!
5) PRETTY PASTELS AND PEARLS:
Spring is the one time of the year, where pretty pastels are allowed to be seen outside of the nursery, and this year is no exception. Pastels made a strong comeback in both lighting fixtures and home accessories. However, teaming the Spring shades with pearls and other natural elements helped give the color pallet a fresher and more diverse appeal this season.
