We wish a Happy New Year to all of our readers. We hope that you had a fabulous holiday season, we sure did! However, with the festive season now behind us, it’s back to business for the Swift Morris team.
Despite last years unexpected discoveries, with a sense of New Year motivation, we are feeling more determined than ever to tackle the tricky challenges of the Bloomfield project, head-on!
You will see that we have had a very busy month so far, and we are now in the stages of finishing the ‘core renovations’.

After the final excavation of the ground floor, Bloomfield is ready for a brand new drain system and water main. Below, Joe our plumber excitedly awaits the big day of installation!

With the new drain and water main in place, we are ready to lay the concrete sub-floor. Gabe and Benjamin discuss what height this should be, after installing the layers of dirt, gravel, rigid insulation, vapor barrier and a reinforced steel grid. That’s man language for messy fun.
On the second floor, 16ft wall closet frames are constructed in the Master Dressing Bedroom. As you can see, there is ample storage space for shoes and bags – of course, a very important bedroom design feature for any woman.
After many delays, owing to this winter’s grueling weather, we finally struck some luck with the weather gods. With a break in the rain (and snow), our roofing team arrived to work some of their magic. Go team!
Along with some crucial roof repairs, they also fitted a new sky light in the master bathroom. Overlooking the shower, this feature allows natural light to flood the once dull space, making the room appear larger and brighter.
Outside, you can see Kieran installing the supports for the new kitchen bay window – an added feature to this property. But, more on this soon!
As you can see, things are starting to come along very nicely at the Bloomfield project with the core renovations now all underway. With each passing day, we are edging closer and closer towards the design stage of the transformation – which is where the real fun will begin.
